A Rescuer Be

Have you ever experienced the uncomfortable feeling of walking into a crowded networking or social arena and,  not knowing anyone, find yourself self-consciously alone?  It’s uncomfortable.  You simply are uncertain what to do, who to approach and if you’re like me, you’ve even considered walking out and heading home.  We’ve all had situations where those moments feel a lot longer than a minute or two.  We’ve all wished we had driven to the place with someone so we’d have a least one individual with whom to connect.  So, given this scenerio,  I’d like to make a suggestion to significantly increase your presence, your value and set the stage for someone  remembering  you.  A rescuer be!  Continue on.  Next time you are at any event and you witness someone standing alone, unengaged, remember the feeling you had under a similar circumstance and go right up to that person.  Put your hand out.  Introduce yourself and be a welcoming committee of one!  Once you get going, you can always introduce that person to a friend, offer to walk over to the buffet or bar together or any other activity that will leave the person you rescued feeling 100% better.  That’s how you make connections.  That’s how you can get others to remember you!  This simply strategy works every time.  It gives you the perfect platform to increase your data base.  Ask for a business card if at a professional event.  After all, you never know where any connection will lead.  In this case, however, by being a rescuer, one thing will happen for sure.  That person will never forget what you did and is likely to carry out your behavior for someone else at another time.  A rescuer be!  It’s the easiest way to connect and be connected.  Guaranteed.
