As women, we tend to focus on others – our spouses, our children, and parents. As businesswomen we do the same whether it is reaching goals or increasing our profit. Sometimes we need to take a moment for ourselves. Personal development is important in our daily lives.

What have you done for personal development? Our education topic was: What steps have you recently taken to improve your personal development and how has that impacted your business?

  • Lisa had worked with Katharine Pike – what she gained from this spilled over into every corner of her life and business.
  • Realized that she was struggling with social media, so she reached out to the expert Tashana Thomas
  • Developed compassion for herself; love yourself, this in turn enabled her to have more true compassion for others. Listening and hearing are two different things and require practice. Connect at heart level; leading with your heart gave her a definite clear direction for her business.
  • Keeping up to date, has to undergo certification every year to maintain her profession. She has developed patience and perseverance; this in turn has helped her to teach, train and counsel others.
  • Realizing when you need help – huge when you are a person that does it all herself normally.
  • Within the last month she has looked into self-development books and made this part of her daily routine, recommended reading “Failing Forward” by John C Maxwell. Meditating, listening. Developing skills, identifying areas where she is lacking.
  • Setting intentions for the week/day/event is a powerful way to start your day which results in a positive flow. Give gratitude at the end of every day.
  • Set goals. She became an XC leader, recommends accessing the learning library, she had a vision and ideas but through self-development this reinforced her thoughts and her vision for her business and the future.
  • A mother of 4 young children, she found audio books impacted her, she realized after becoming stressed on a daily basis (home schools her children too) that we cannot control circumstances but you can take charge of the emotions and attitudes.
  • Recommended Reading/listening “Celebrating Calm” Kirk Martin
  • Recommends Neil Donald-Walsh – “Conversations with God” Daily messages will impact your day
