As a business owner, I am always looking for ways to become more organized and increase my profits. One of my favorite ways to hear about these things is to attend an Xperience Connections. Learning about new products or services that can propel my business forward is exciting.

One of the ways we brainstorm is to have a conversation around an education topic. This month our topic was

“Share briefly about a specific business, product or service that has had a major impact on you personally or on your bottom line. For example: a joint of collaborative venture, hiring someone from your XC connections, engaging a coach, joining another networking organization.”

Thank you to the ladies of the Douglasville, Marietta and Cumberland/Atlanta Xperience Connections for sharing their ideas:

  • Hired an XC Leader to sell my town home
  • Attend Atlanta Business Spotlight regularly because of the value of their seminars/workshops/training
  • Engaged a business coach
  • Became an Xperience Connections Leader
  • Engaged with someone who helped me with my branding which ultimately led me to produce a book
  • Invested in a mastermind group for strategizing and support
  • Many connections through networking which helped me expand relationships and business
  • We started off with networking. Being consistent with networking through XC and other like groups have helped businesses tremendously.
  • Utilizing social media was another way that bottom lines were improved.
  • Staying connected with influencers that help push us to do better. It’s important to stay connected.
  • taxbot.comHelps organize business life. Scans receipts, tracks mileage and helps keep more of your money. Helps to not “worry about the details.”
  • meAn automated communication system for direct selling especially in the party plan business. Hostesses love it and helps to keep their party in front of the friends.
  • https://www.mileiq.com/  app that tracks mileage automatically from your phone as your car travels. Can then separate business from personal for tax purposes.
  • leadoutcome.com   A lead automation system that takes business cards and creates a drip marketing campaign that is automated and very easy for business owners.
  • Making sure you have an emergency fund set aside for just that- emergencies. Even before retirement planning, start an emergency fund.
  • XC has made a huge difference in her business. Used to be terrified of speaking now is very confident speaking.
  • XC helped her develop lifelong friends; partnered with other XC ladies in business.
  • XC helped her find friends after moving here from England.
  • Evernote for following up.

Hopefully this list will inspire you to get organized and/or grow your business. If you have something you’d like to share that has helped in your business, please leave in the comments below.

Everybody’s Networking!  Are U in The Game?

Bonnie Ross-Parker, CEO/Founder Xperience Connections

There’s no denying that social media is now a key player in the networking arena.  Regardless of which ‘platform’ you prefer, being able to connect, converse and stay in touch through the internet has and will continue to have a major impact on building relationships and business. That being said, networking is not going away.  In fact, more and more ‘local’ and ‘national’ networking organizations are on the scene stronger than ever before.  Why is that so?  Because, in spite of the ease and availability of online communication, the importance of face to face networking, real time connection and building relationships in one’s local community continues to be valuable.  Perhaps it’s safe to say, both online and offline business building will continue to remain relevant.

As for me, I’m a face to face networking gal.  I like hugs, eye contact, familiar faces and re-connecting with individuals who come and go in my life.  I prefer sitting and sharing, complimenting and engaging in real time.  There’s something special about recognizing someone at an event, introducing someone you know to someone they need to meet or finding out what is happening in the lives of people I see that are where I am.

Networking for both relationship building and business growth cannot be overstated. Sure, one can sit in front of a monitor all day to do both.  However, the value you get from being at an event, listening to a speaker, conversing with individuals being together at a table and possibly brainstorming I believe are some of the most effective ways to share about you and the passion you have behind the products or service you offer.  People are more likely to remember you, refer business to you and want to spend time with you when you show up, listen and help them with the challenges they face whether personally or professionally.

Networking remains the #1 way to achieve what you want and deserve. When you connect effectively, you get effective results.  When you remain steadfast in having a servant attitude, you get results.  When others see that you stand out because you are sincere and generous, you get results.  Never underestimate what you can accomplish when you network.  Never underestimate who you may meet or who will meet you!  There’s power in networking. If you are NOT in the game, you need to be!  All it takes is to: Get Up!  Get Out! Get Going!

This time of year, for me, always brings a time of thankfulness and reflection. A time to stop and be more aware of the everyday. Also, to look at my business and remember my successes and what or who contributed to it.

Our education topic was: “As the holiday season approaches, share with us 2-3 gratitude’s that bless you abundantly. Offer from both a personal and professional perspective.”

Thank you to all the contributors from the following XC locations: Acworth, Buford, Hiram, Marietta and Powder Springs.

  • Husband and family support. Periscope helped her face her fears of public speaking. Thankful to the Lord for his blessings.
  • A supportive husband – they worked together in business for 30 years, now he is supporting her with her own business. She has renewed recently her faith and found a church that she finds inspiring. Impacted also by the women she has been around. Drive and Tenacity are her strengths.
  • Family and Friends, blessed with people who are not superficial. Authenticity is the key. Health & Wellbeing. She shares in business what she is passionate about. The opportunity for women has never been greater in this world as right now to do great things.
  • Family and support. Business partners with her sister. Exercising her faith – took a step, a leap of faith, persevered, surrendering to God’s will. Thankful for this group – Confidence, supportive, builds us up- deep relationships. A personal thank you to Robin Crawford.
  • Support of the family, in particular her adorable husband – supports her beyond belief day-to-day and in business.
  • Blessed with faith, her church and family, her son faced some health challenges. She feels her profession is so supportive, non-judgmental, allows her to be herself, there is no separation between belief and work life balance.
  • The company you keep – awesome!
  • Became Youth Group leader, a blessing and a humbling experience.
  • Strongest year in business due to networking.
  • Met many people and formed many lasting friendships.
  • Improved self-esteem.
  • Able to take my business with me wherever I go.
  • Business partner as a “sister”, nine years together through the good and the bad.

  • Husband set free from depression and now a true partner being able to get out and share opportunity again.
  • Things that don’t drag you down.
  • Grateful for Sandy and her support; my business team, and my work
  • My family and my husband.
  • My health and vitality and my clients.
  • Happy that I made it here.

Sometimes the day-to-day can get us down. We fall and get back up. We surround ourselves with people who support our vision. But it all comes down to us. How we perceive ourselves and the backstory that has shaped our lives. There is a phrase going around which resonates with me – “What you think about, you bring about.”

Often times we only see our failures or our difficulties. We forget about the times we have overcome or persevered. These moments are vital to our successes. If we focus on our achievements, they give us strength and determination.

With that in mind, this month our interactive topic was: “Please share details about something you have achieved this year that you are most proud of.”

  • Became a certified group insurance specialist
  • Produced my first book due for publication in November
  • Significant personal growth and increased my value for relationships
  • Rebuilding my life during a time of crisis
  • I’ve developed the faith to trust life after dealing with my mom’s death
  • I’ve focused on slowing down and enjoying moments in life.
  • I made a bucket list and have already carried out some of the items
  • I’ve given up being afraid in order to step out with more confidence
  • Overcoming health challenges by allowing myself to be authentic
  • Expressing gratitude for getting up every day
  • I attended a self-help group in June in Bulgaria for one month.  In order to attend this group, you must complete part 1, 2, and 3.  I had done all of those and was able to get to this group that really helped me uncover limiting beliefs.
  • In January I came out of the recovery closet.  I have been clean for 18 years and am now teaching source and being authentic and having integrity.  I learned my purpose and am helping others.
  • I completed a 5K Alzheimer’s walk and my seven year old son went with me.  He learned all about this disease.
  • I moved from New York to a new home and a new job here in the Atlanta area.  I am proud that I have been able to transfer my life from New York to here.
  • I am proud that I sold my insurance agency and that I am now opening a new work space agency and building for BB&L.
  • Very busy with business throughout this year
  • Celebrated five year business anniversary
  • All A’s in College
  • Family and business in balance
  • Retired from one business and started a new business
  • Home renovation completed
  • Three-week vacation with family to home country

Write down your successes. Read them at least once a week. Focus on what you have achieved to give you a boost during difficult times. Be proud.

“Toot your own horn” and tell us about YOUR achievements in the comments below.

Thank you to the attendees of the Atlanta-Cumberland, Buford and Powder Springs Xperience Connections for contributing.

Women Entrepreneurs Rock Conference is an annual interactive conference that brings female business owners from across North America together for a day of education, empowerment and encouragement. The purpose of the conference is to create a space where women can address the challenges they face while growing their business.  Additionally, women have the opportunity to connect with resources and assistance they need during the two days.

WE Rock is also a premier networking opportunity where many ladies have connected and returned in subsequent years to deepen the relationships initially established at the conference. Popularity and attendance of the conference has grown from just 35 Atlanta based women business owners in 2011 to 100+ in the subsequent years.  Our fifth year anniversary promises to both double in audience size and deepen it’s impact on the attendee’s business.

Join us this November 13th & 14th for a life changing experience.

Many of us have been entrepreneurs for years. Looking back haven’t you sometimes thought, “I wish I knew that when I began my business”. Here is your opportunity to pass on your knowledge to business owners just starting out; or someone contemplating a business.

Our interactive conversation was “Pretend you’ve been asked to mentor a beginner in business. Based on YOUR experience, what specific advice would you offer that can potentially help someone else build their business?” Thank you to the women of Acworth/Cherokee, Atlanta/Cumberland and Buford Xperience Connections for sharing:

  • Get comfortable being outside of your comfort zone.
  • Make sure you overcome resistance by being passionate about your business.
  • Establish a routine so you don’t treat business like a hobby.
  • Never quit.
  • Maintain balance – take care of you.
  • Be patient, persistent, committed and patient
  • Set goals.
  • Value the mentee/mentor relationship and be appreciative of one’s time, expertise.  Do what you say you’re going to do.
  • People before profit.
  • Eliminate negativity and negative people!
  • Ask for help.
  • Critical that you have a business plan for marketing and for your financial well-being.
  • Keep financial records by establishing yourself as a legal entity so you can use legitimate deductions.
  • Understand who your ideal client is.
  • Create a relationship with an accountant.
  • What you are doing should match with your skill set?
  • Identify what situation/problem YOUR business solves.
  • How do you intend to differentiate yourself in the marketplace?
  • Be comfortable with technology as part of your marketing, database management, etc.
  • Start with what you know and your story.
  • Don’t compare yourself to others; getting better and that one more client is good.
  • Look at others and know that if someone else can do it, so can you.
  • Concentrate on why and not the how. Get feedback from target market only so you get encouraged.
  • If someone does not want to do business with you, then they are not your target market.
  • Read where the creator of KFC was rejected 1,009 times.
  • Business 409 had 408 no’s.  You can search on FaceBook those who were told no and see these famous people who did not stop with a no – Oprah, and the Beatles.
  • Remember mistakes help you progress.
  • It takes a good four years to get a good customer base.
  • The only way you can fail is to quit.
  • People are quick to tell you to get a job and work for 45 years to be broke, but find it ridiculous to be an entrepreneur, work for 45 years and be rich.

There are really good nuggets of advice and information listed. These can not only help someone starting out, but also those of us who have been in business for years. I’m sure there are other great pieces of advice. What advice would you give as a mentor? Please leave in the comments below.
