Intention Requires Action!

I know how it goes.  We all have the best of intentions.  We want to honor our commitments.  We want our reputation to reflect that we do what we say we’re going to do.  We want to be known for our reliability.  All that being said, why do we have good or great intentions and then forget to deliver on them?  This is especially evident after networking events.  You tell someone you are going to forward an invitation to an upcoming event.  You let a new contact know that you have someone in mind they need to meet.  You plan on sending a relevant article and forget.  And these are just some examples of intentions that go unattended.  If you want to be known as a person who is reliable and can be counted on, you need to follow every intention with action.  Email the invite.  Make the introduction.  Forward a helpful article.  Send a thank you note.  Make the phone call.  Be consistent and notice what happens.  Think of intention = action.  If you don’t intend to do something, don’t put it on your to do list.  If you do intend to back what you say you’re going to do, do it!  Networking is all about relationships.  And relationships are all about integrity.  What will people say about yours?
