Networking Blunders: 1 – 2 – 3

When I received a LinkedIn request from Denise Renee Phinn, VP of Marketing & Operations for her husband, Craig Phinn  (www.CraigPhinn.com) regarding

Let's Show Up and Get Paid

Let’s Show Up and Get Paid

a networking seminar, I have to admit I was reluctant to respond.  Why would a female women’s organization promote ‘a guy’ to teach networking when it’s what we do best?

Well, I must say, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to connect.  Dragging my husband, Phil, along to meet Denise and Craig was one of those opportunities not to be missed.  As a result of a lively and mutually beneficial time together, I agreed to promote Craig’s program.  The special teleseminar, created exclusively for the Xperience Connections community, entitled “Holy Crap!  Top 3 Networking Blunders To Avoid In Order To Make Real Money” offered such valuable insight I decided to share the gems of his class with you! (Click title to listen to the seminar on MP3)

Here goes!

  1.  Mistake # 1 – Selecting the wrong events.  It is critical to strategically make plans to be where your potential clients go.  Too large an audience is often not a good choice.  And, refrain from attending events that have not produced past business unless for social reasons!
  2. Mistake # 2 – Failing to strategically engage prospects.  You have to first build relationships before you can build profits.  Follow up with only those individuals/relationships of mutual value.  Decide in advance what you want to accomplish on any call you make or email you send.  Always personalize emails.  No group emails!  To really engage potential business you must first engage the relationship!
  3. Mistake # 3 – Don’t circumvent the relationship.  Building using a relationship approach takes time and requires strategy and preparation.  No one wants to be sold.  Individuals can tell when someone is desperate!

Sometimes it just takes reminders so that your efforts reap results.  Whether you are women owned business, part of women networking groups or business women organizations, consider where you spend your time, the effort and expense you put into your networking and commit to avoiding all blunders to get the results you want and deserve.  Craig’s final message:  “Show Up & Get Paid.” Remember to connect with Craig and Denise on FACE BOOK
