Thougths Seeeds of LifeHow great would it feel if you could dramatically increase your level of happiness and rejuvenate your health while increasing your ability to get things done?  What if you could do all of this for FREE without popping pills, visiting a guru, or changing your life style?  The good news is that you absolutely can.  Thousands of smart people the world over are discovering how. If you’re like most people today you likely have far too many things to do and far too little time to do them.  It’s true – modern conveniences take most of the heavy labor out of our daily work.  However, the problem is that now we are all expected to take on more tasks.  Over the past two decades, the average adult’s list of daily tasks has more than quadrupled.  Consequently, we find ourselves working through long ‘To Do Lists’, pulled in dozens of directions at the same instant, and in serious need of a powerful remedy to increase energy levels and productivity.  So, while we’re all doing more, most of us are feeling tense, stressed, tired, and guilty because we can’t get through everything on our ‘To Do Lists’.  Thinking about stressful events, worrying about what might happen, or habitually re-playing stressful interactions in your mind negatively affects your brain, has a debilitating impact on your body, and impairs your ability to function. 

Plus, when you habitually re-think stressful thoughts, you continually re-send a rush of killer hormones through your body. It’s like continually pouring sand into an otherwise finely tuned machine. No wonder you get tired!  It’s grinding your gears! It’s slowing you down! It’s irritating, distressing, and painful!

Evidence suggests that the repeated release of stress hormones produces hyperactivity in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) system, and disrupts normal levels of serotonin, the brain chemical that is critical for feelings of well-being.  It also contributes to heart disease, reduces the effectiveness of the immune system, contributes to inflammatory illnesses, increases cancers, gastrointestinal problems, emotional eating problems, sleep disturbances, impairs memory, concentration and more.

The remedy is as simple as changing your mind. 

OK! I can hear you saying, “What? What kind of bunkety-bunk remedy is that?”  You may be thinking, “What does changing my mind have to do with increasing my happiness?  Or, how can changing my mind rejuvenate my health?  Or, maybe you’re thinking, “You’re on!  I’d like to see how changing my mind can increase my ability to get things done and feel happier!”

The answer is simple.  It’s your mind. You can change it whenever you want to.

Research reveals that each of us has between 60,000-70,000 thoughts a day.  Approximately 95% of those thoughts are repetitive and about 80% are negative.  Do the math…Yikes!  That’s about 50,000 negative thoughts each and every day. It’s no surprise that you feel mentally stressed out and physically worn out.

Here’s a streamlined 3-STEP PROCESS to Change Your Mind and Change Your Life!

STEP 1: KEEP TABS ON YOUR THOUGHTS for 3 to 4 days. As soon as you notice yourself having a negative thought, STOP. It doesn’t matter if it you catch it in mid-thought or after the thought is over.  Just STOP, CANCEL, or DELETE the thought. In other words – Change Your Mind. Simply chose to think a more positive thought in its place. Remember, the power to choose your thoughts is YOURS.  While others may suggest or try to influence your thoughts, the power to hold or release thoughts is yours alone.  You have the power to decide which thoughts you want to hold on to and which you want to release.  The power is yours! Empowerment specialists call this Self- Sovereignty.  As you practice, you’ll notice that you are more aware of your thoughts, you’ll sharpen your awareness and be able to catch yourself before a distressing thought starts to take over your mind. It’s your mind.  You get to choose if you’ll drive yourself crazy or drive yourself happy.

STEP 2: LABEL THE THOUGHT.  You can imagine the thought is a leaf drifting by on a breeze or a cloud floating away on a windy day.  Think to yourself, “Ahh, look at this, another one of those negative thoughts has cropped up.” This places the thought outside of you and allows you to realize that you are not your thoughts. Your thoughts are simply mental constructs.  You can choose whether to allow them to take up space in your brain or not. Once you realize this, you take the power out of the thoughts and take back the control. 

STEP 3: COUNTERACT WITH THE EXACT OPPOSITE THOUGHT.  This builds on Step 1 where you put a STOP to the hurtful thought and inserted a new thought in place of it.  If the opposite thought is just too far out for you to believe, then, simply replace it with a better feeling thought that you can believe. For example, if you have overeaten while you are trying to lose weight, you might think, “I feel guilty. I promised myself that I was going to control myself and now I let myself and everybody else down. I always let others down.”  Try counteracting that with an opposite thought like, “I slipped. It’s not the end of the world. I can get back on track right now.” See the difference? Who has the power now? Try it out. Notice how different your body feels. Remember, your mind can only hold one thought at a time. You get to choose whether it will be a thought that supports you or one that brings you down.  Which will you choose?

You’ll be surprised at how paying attention to your thoughts, and making a conscious choice to eliminate your negative thinking, can change your life for the better. Start by making a commitment to increase your awareness.
