Something to Think About

by
August 22, 2012 Personal Development

Recently,  I was at a meeting where several of the women were talking about The Joy of Connecting. One of the gals laughed and said she hangs out mostly at her computer! However, she did share that when she does network is it always at a Joy of Connecting. This led me to wonder why this was the case – why always a JOC?

The more I thought about it,  the clearer the answer became. She goes to JOC because she feels safe and welcomed. It truly is an atmosphere of making connections and forming relationships. The minute you walk in the door at any Joy of Connecting gathering,  you feel included. Before I became part of The Joy of Connecting Team,   I, too, always felt ‘at home’. The JOC Leaders make everyone feel comfortable and valued regardless of race, religion or political leanings. It’s the one place where there is unity and one collaborative focus  – women wanting to help other women succeed.

You can’t get that same feeling of value and support going to other types of networking events because they feel competitive.  It’s almost like a race over  who can leave with the most business cards!  When someone approaches me asking for a recommendation for a product or serve needed, I automatically go to my JOC contacts. Why? I’m not going to refer someone or their business to anyone I don’t know.  To me any referral puts my reputation  on the line. I only  recommend someone I know and can feel confident about the work they provide. Can you get establish that assurance simply by reading a business card? I don’t think so.

If you would like to experience this for yourself please go to www..thejoyofconnecting.com and check out our many locations. You will be thrilled you did!  And, if there isn’t a location in your area, consider becoming part of The Joy of Connecting as a JOC Leader!
