WHAT CHALLENGE DO YOU FACE?
For the month of September, we discussed “What is your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur/business woman?” The women really took to this subject! Seems all of us face challenges as entrepreneurs. Below are comments from the attendees:
Dr. Cheryl Langley, XC Leader for Marietta/East Cobb:
- Learning to say “NO.” We wear many hats and have many demands on us. Knowing when you can and when you can’t commit to something is important.
- Learning to put things on your calendar
- Learning “compartmentalization” of time and energy
- Asking for help / Delegating tasks
- Not being afraid to tell potential clients, “I’m not your person”, when you have a conflict of energies.
- Learning how to REST.
- Learning how to set boundaries.
- Having a home business, it’s challenging to GET OUT of the house!
Susan Guthrie & Ghislaine Smith, XC Co-Leaders for Powder Springs:
- Underestimating time it takes to do things – drive to a meeting, length of phone calls, etc.
- Putting money into things and don’t use them.
- Need another one of myself.
- Balance
- Time Management
- Doing what I need to do not what I WANT to do.
- Systems – putting them in place and actually using them
There were many suggestions on solving the above listed challenges. One was to create a notebook and write everything down that you need to do. Another was to create a spreadsheet with columns – “Email”, “Call”, “Outside Office Visit”, etc. to track what needs to be done and a way to cross it off when finished. The program Evernote was also mentioned as a way to take notes and sync them with your PC and Smartphone or tablet.
If you have any suggestions regarding the challenges, please leave your ideas in the comment section.
This is a great recap, Cindy! Thanks for sharing ideas that can really inspire action/progress and well-being. Will be eager to learn additional strategies presented from October’s topic: Please share a personal or business goal that you are determined to accomplish by the end of 2013.
