2 updates that change how you post on Facebook
Facebook is at it again- but this time it is in your favor. Normally, I share steps and solutions to your social media problems, but the Facebook pages algorithm has changed. Facebook has changed the way they deal with status updates from Pages. First, text updates will be ranked lower in Facebook’s algorithm. Second, the way you share links has changed. After these updates it is best to share links through “link-share”.
Facebook Text Updates
Facebook continually experiments and found that text updates from your friends encourages you to create a status update of your own. However, text updates from Pages does not encourage the same type of interaction. Therefore, Facebook has changed the way it deals with text updates from Pages and stated “Page admins can expect a decrease in the distribution of their text status updates, but they may see some increases in engagement and distribution for other story types.” What this means from you is unless you are hitting it out of the ball park with your text updates, avoid doing them.
Facebook Link-share
In addition, Facebook strongly encourages you to use a link-share to share links in your post. Before your status update with a link would look like:
As a link-share it will now look like:
This is going to be a great thing for you as you can have text before your post as well as text and title description of the image. 3 different ways to deliver the same message in one post!
To create a Link-share
To do this in your post add a link to a status update, the image with the title and description should automatically get pulled into the post, thus creating a “link-share” post. You can then delete the link in the status update box because the image and the description are now clickable.
