Whatever It Takes
Are you doing whatever it takes to achieve your 2013 goals? How are you doing with them? I know this is not a new subject.
Especially at this time of year, everyone talks about goals and their value. The reality is, goal setting is really not about talking – it’s about doing! For just a few moments, I’d like to focus on Integrity. I see this issue from two perspectives. There’s the integrity you demonstrate in your connection to others AND your own personal integrity. Regardless of your point of view, integrity is critical in all relationships including the one you have with yourself. Do you honor your personal and professional commitments? Do you do what you say you’re going to do? Do you treat others with respect and acceptance? Can you be counted on to come through in situations in which you find yourself? Are you reliable and trustworthy?
I took an online course recently and the subject of ‘mixed messages’ came up. For example, if you say one thing and end up doing otherwise, that’s a mixed message. If you say you are determined to lose weight and you indulge, that’s a mixed message. If you tell someone you can be counted on and then fail to deliver, that’s also a mixed message. Being in integrity, is doing exactly what you say you’re going to do no matter what and whatever it takes.
How you treat yourself is directly reflected in the way you relate to others. Do you want to strengthen your relationships? Do you want to expand your business? Do you want to be someone that others hold in high esteem? Then care about yourself. Study. Do what you know you need to do to be well. Self-care is the best way to live a life of integrity. When you demonstrate a whatever it takes attitude, you will treat others with the same commitment you are willing to make for yourself. Be aware of examples where you lose your way. When you find the strength to do instead of talking about what you know you need to do, your life will change. No mixed messages. No confusion. Live with integrity – whatever it takes.
